Ford’s Ranger announcement sparked 2018 Chevrolet Avalanche rumors!
Chevrolet Suburban lost the rear portion of its roof to give rise to the Avalanche line of pickups. Suburban is Chevrolet’s perfect 7-seater family SUV. However, the Avalanche is marketed in the same way – a pickup meant for the family. With rumors about a new Silverado already doing rounds in the auto market, speculations about a 2018 Chevrolet Avalanche are also high on air.
The reason was recently concluded at the Detroit Auto Show. Ford announced the return of its family favorite Bronco and high selling Ranger pickups. Another American automaker, Jeep, announced a new Wrangler based pickup along with its Wagoneer series. With competitors focusing more on family pickups, it should be no surprise if the automaker decides to focus a bit more on its Chevrolet Avalanche 2018.
GM should be well aware of Ranger’s popularity. With 2018 set as the deadline by experts, General Motors should bring about more family-centric refinements to its Avalanche. This may see the pickup come with specs high on the comfort quotient and added technical upgrades.
2018 Chevrolet Avalanche Latest Rumors about this concept pickup
2018 Chevrolet Avalanche should get a new nose. It’s about time that this pickup sheds its Suburban-mimicry tag and sport a refreshed look. Spy shots of Jeep’s Wagoneer showed a modern set of front grilles with sharp headlights. The pickup should also sport a similar nose design when launched. If Chevy wants its Avalanche to go into contention with both Jeep and Ranger, design modifications are almost a necessity.
Expect headlights and front bumpers to look new. The front fascia should adorn a more muscular profile when compared to existing models. The automaker may add a few body lines and a new rim design in its Chevrolet Avalanche 2018.
Inside the cabin, the pickup should bring about a bit more detailing. GM may add new color shade options for its upholstery along with a new dash and center console. Expect bucket and power adjusted front seats with heating features, telescopic steering with infotainment controls and optional rear heating seats.
The display on the dash is likely to be 8-inch. Instrument cluster may be an LCD in the new 2018 Chevrolet Avalanche. Interior techs should include voice activated navigation, climate control and bed monitoring camera.
Which powertrain we can expect in the new 2018 Chevy Avalanche?
GM is unlikely to bring about any change under its pickup’s hood. Avalanche may continue to house the 5.3-liter V8 unit with a power capacity of 355 HP and torque capacity of 383 lb-ft. The engine is matted with 6-speed automatic transmission. The drive layout will be RWD with option of the AWD. Current models develop a towing capacity of almost 8,300 pounds; expect Chevrolet Avalanche 2018 to sport similar figures.
Silverado promises an EPA of 24 mpg highway. Avalanche does a 22 mpg at present. If Chevrolet follows Silverado’s lines and uses a lighter chassis, this family pickup should reach similar figures. Top speed should hover around the 115 mph mark, and 0 to 60 mph should be covered in 7.1 seconds.
There is an ongoing trend of using lightweight materials in the construction of the pickup truck. Therefore we can expect that the new 2018 Chevy Avalanche will have an aluminum chassis.
When we can expect release date of new Chevy Avalanche?
GM will want its Avalanche to be ready when Ford Ranger ultimately arrives in the US market. Chevy should release it during the first half of 2018.
Also, expect 2018 Chevrolet Avalanche to bring along new body color options, tech and safety packages and a few SUV-centric luxury options. Price should remain around the higher $40,000 mark.
