In the crowded segment of utility pickups, Navara stands out with its distinctive styling and capabilities that are off the charts. As always, the Japanese automaker doesn’t seem to get enough out of this pickup truck as new variant, 2018 Nissan Navara is already in plans.
Versatility is where utility pickups get credits and Nissan always looks forward to it. The new-gen Nissan Navara will offer 2 cab configurations – Crew Cab and King Cab. Similarly, the availability of 5 different trims is going to cater various performance flavors and driving nuances. These trims include: S, SV, SL, PRO-4X and Desert Runner.
2018 Nissan Navara – Powertrain Specs
New 2018 Nissan Navara will make peace with a 2.5L DOHC 4 cylinder engine that supposed to get few tweaks. As a result, the engine’s output figures might improve to 155 HP at 5,200 RPM and 176 lb-ft torque at 4,400 RPM.
It is a well-known fact that pickups aren’t any good on fuel savings. However, Nissan will try and prove this notion wrong as the upcoming Navara’s improved mileage should be around 21 mpg in city, 24 mpg on highways and 22 mpg on a combined scale.
A 4.0-liter V6 engine should come as optional for catering higher power. For what it’s worth, the output figures will stay close to 283 lb-ft of torque and 269 HP. Transmission options will range as CVT-CS and 5-speed manual.
Much like the Nissan Titan XD, the rear differential will integrate electronic locking along with a switch-operated 2-speed transfer case. Most importantly, max towing capacity might stay close to 6,800 lbs.
Nissan Navara steals the show with its pretty styling and compact body profile and the upcoming model is all set to emphasize on it. New truck is sure to garner its audience’s attention with a refined front fascia. Rendered images show that the headlights are getting a new shape (muck like Ford F-150 and RAM 1500). Nissan will retain the signature V-shaped grille as part of the ongoing modern design language.
Like the current-gen, new Navara will get beefed-up wheel arches that complement a muscular profile. 6-spoke steel wheels will range in the size options of 15 and 16 inches. Other exterior features will include roof rack (with crossbars), step rails, auto-high beam (standard on headlight) and heating mirrors.
The interior cabin will be just as attractive. The rear seats will integrate 60/40 split-folding and power lumbar support might come standard this time. Front seats will integrate 10-way power reclining (with memory setting) and heating. New additions in this cabin will include 12 volt DC power outlets, USB and AUX connectivity. Furthermore, this cabin will also offer under-seat storage bin in the rear. Just like its predecessor, 2018 Navara will feature easy access to the rear seats with no B-pillar.
Price and Release Date
2018 Nissan Navara is set to go easy on the budget as its starting price will stay around $19,000. Release date is not yet determined, however new model could be available by the end of the 2017.
