Nissan will definitely build a new generation of its mid-size pickup truck, so you don’t have to worry anymore. The all-new vehicle will be introduced sometime next year as the 2019 Nissan Frontier and will continue to be produced at Nissan’s plant in Canton, Mississippi. For those that don’t know, the current model has been introduced a long time ago in 2005. This period is really long even for such a great pickup as it is today’s Frontier.
2019 Nissan Frontier: Platform and Performance
Anyway, the Japanese car manufacturer hasn’t provided any further information regarding the 2019 Frontier, but we have certain findings, though unconfirmed. The truck will reportedly keep its current platform. More precisely, it’s going to update the architecture, opening new options under the hood. In addition, the vehicle will boost its efficiency by employing more lightweight materials, which will have a positive influence on Frontier’s efficiency.
Nissan stayed short for engine information at the moment. Though, rumors suggest that the workhorse is getting replacements for both 2.5-liter four-cylinder and 4.0-liter V-6 units. Some reports indicate that there is a possibility of seeing a 3.7-liter engine, but we highly doubt. The unit delivers up to 330 horsepower, which seems too much for the 2019 Nissan Frontier. Still, you never know. Some other reports announced the arrival of a 2.8-liter Cummins. If this oil-chugging actually arrives, it’s going to be a great option, because it’s capable of producing 220 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. No matter which one option comes, it’s going to be mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. However, the carmaker will likely keep a six-speed manual as an option.
Exterior and Interior Redesign
The exterior design of the 2019 Nissan Frontier should be heavily influenced by its European sibling. The pickup truck will probably feature a bit more dynamic body-lines, while the dimensions should stay untouched. Of course, the Japanese carmaker will make a number of changes inside as well, so you can expect Nissan’s latest infotainment system along with more standard equipment. Plus, they won’t skip the chance to improve truck’s safety.
Estimated Price and Arrival
Even though it is going to arrive completely redesigned the 2019 Nissan Frontier will keep its base price almost unchanged. The all-new pickup truck will likely start just a little bit north of $20,000. Like we said, the workhorse will be introduced sometime next year.
I am wondering if the Frontier will be available with a diesel engine? The height of the current Frontier is great. It makes it easy to get in and out of.
Is it still going to be so confusing when you buy a new Nissan? It seems Nissan really penalizes its customers if they don’t finance through the dealership at their triple priced interest rates. And forget buying a car out of state. I found that option not not even a possibility as far as getting the price advertised. The incentives are fake news for the most part.
I’m debating about getting one and the salesman said I could bulk pay it off or refinance after 4 months. I’m hoping this is true but they did want to go through Nissan finance first as you said
I bought a 2015 Rogue and had to finance with Nissan, but it was 0% at the time. You have to watch for buyer incentives if financing thru Nissan. I wanted to buy the vehicle outright with cash, but the penalty was about $5000 higher in the total price. If it wasn’t for the 0% financing I would have not bought a Nissan. It is the only car company that does not want to sell to a cash customer, at least that i have dealt with.
I looked at a 2018 Frontier. It was slightly used, the owner only had it for 4 months and traded for a full size, so the price was very good. Trouble is, I am 6′ 3” and could not get in the truck easily. So I am waiting to see what the new Ranger is like
