All pickup trucks are more-or-less made for off-road adventures, but some of the workhorses are not as good as the manufacturers say they are. Still, there are high-riding vehicles which are destined for the purpose and one of them is Ram’s amazing Power Wagon. The current model offers a Hemi V-8, as well as 14.3 inches of clearance, so it can go anywhere without any doubt. This awesome truck is getting ready to receive a mid-cycle facelift for the next year, and we have the first spy shots of the 2019 Ram Power Wagon.
The slight camouflage suggests that there will be no too many exterior changes for the next year’s model. However, the cosmetic update isn’t everything the 2019 Power Wagon gets. No, the manufacturer will also update the interior and tech, while some reports suggest that there might be one more option under the hood.
2019 Ram Power Wagon: Exterior Changes
The front end hosts a new grille without any doubt. If you look closer, you will notice a big crosshair design. There is a chance to see a pair of slightly redesigned headlights as well, though we are not sure what’s changed out there. The hood of the 2019 Ram Power Wagon will stay untouched for sure. On the other hand, lower, the fascia sports a minor redesign. The testing prototype isn’t hiding the rear end, but that doesn’t mean that there are no changes around back. If you look closer, you will notice a new exhaust layout. The pipe suggests that there may be something new under the hood as well. We can’t guarantee what’s beneath, but it looks like the carmaker plans to add a diesel mill for the future.
Unchanged Hemi V-8 and All-New Diesel Option
It the 2019 Ram Power Wagon Diesel actually arrives, it’s going to features an amazing 6.7-liter Cummins without any doubt. The latest update brought some additional torque, so the truck should feature almost 400 horsepower and 930 lb-ft of twist. This will definitely improve vehicle’s towing ability. As for the gasoline model, it’s going to use the current 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 that pumps out 410 hp and 429 lb-ft and enables towing up to 10,030 lb. Of course, the features such as Bilstein shocks and skid-plates will stay standard. Plus, the pickup will keep its six-speed automatic transmission with a manually shifted BorgWarner 44-47 two-speed transfer case.
The interior will see some minor changes too. As far as we know, the 2019 Ram Power Wagon will host the new UConnect 4.0, which is going to be paired with a taller screen. The carmaker will likely add new upholstery and slightly restyled dashboard, as well as some pretty cool features such are self-park assist and lane-keep assist.
Estimated Arrival and Price
The updated 2019 Ram Power Wagon will be introduced in the first half of the next year. However, it’s going to skip the 2018 Detroit Auto Show for sure, simply because it’s reserved for the all-new Ram 1500. Instead, the ultimate off-roader will likely show its new face at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. There is no price info at the moment, but stay tuned for updates.
