2020 Ford F-150 Raptor: News, Design, Specs, Release

Ford’s mighty, unrivaled, full-size Raptor pickup received significant upgrades for the 2019 model and with the new electronic driver aids and improved Fox racking shocks the truck has become even more capable and smarter.  On the other hand, the return of the mid-size Ranger aroused also the question about the Raptor version in the US but Ford said recently that the high-performance Ranger Raptor could happen with the next generation of this truck while it is already available in the markets outside the US.

As for the 2020 model year and the high-performance F-150 Ranger, the sources from industry claim the return of the truck in the same form without any significant upgrade. Big news for the 2020 model year and the best-selling F-150 will be the introduction of the hybrid powertrain while the 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor will continue to rely on the mighty twin-turbo V-6 engine. The new V-8 engine was mentioned in some reports for the introduction in the F-150 Raptor but there isn’t any proof supporting that claim yet.

Under the hood of the 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor will again be a tested and proven 3.5L intercooled DOHC 24 valve, twin-turbo EcoBoost engine. Ford offer also this mighty, port fuel and direct injection equipped engine with the Limited version of the F-150 truck. The engine comes in the combination with the 10-speed automatic transmission and provides 450 horsepower and massive torque of 510 lb-ft.

However, while the bi-turbo EcoBoost provides more than enough muscle for the F-150 Raptor, the truck is also equipped with sophisticated suspension system and electronic aids which help it to beat all terrains with maximum comfort and effectiveness. The F-150 Raptor uses electronically controlled 3.0-inch Fox racing shocks with 9 damping zones. The Live Valve technology adjusts the damping in real time every 40 milliseconds according to the terrain and drive style.

The F-150 Raptor employs also the Trail Control system which operates acceleration and braking at speeds up to 20 mph and allows a driver to concentrate on the road.  

The mighty Raptor derives also its capability from the fully-boxed, high-strength steel frame. The electronic locking rear differential with 4.10 rear axle and front axle with TORSEN Differential make also the hard off-roading possible.

The 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor will return with the familiar exterior style. The loads of the hardcore performance gear has also the impact on model’s look and the F-150 Raptor imposes the stronger presence than more civilized F-150 versions.

The truck looks more robust thanks to the wider body and fenders than on the other versions and all-terrain capable tires also add to its rugged appearance. The Raptor comes with the unique 17-inch wheels with the knobby tires and will also offer the beadlock optional wheels.

The look of the truck defines also the black-themed Raptor signature grille with the FORD caps and the similar treatment is on the model’s tailgate. The skid plates and unique front bumper form also the styling of the mighty Raptor and Ford adds special graphic details as well.

Interior, Equipment:

The interior of the off-road ready F-150 has also some unique cues and equips also some important tech and comfort gear. The body supportive Recaro seats with extra bolstering will provide long ride comfort and Ford will use attractive contrasting patterns inside the cabin as well. Available will be carbon fiber and blue interior accent packages.

The truck will also provide features like the dual-zone automatic climate control, power and heated front seats, heated rear seats, power pedals, ventilated front seats, rains sensing wipers, etc. The entertainment package will include SYNC3 infotainment platform, navigation, WiFi hotspot, Bang & Olufsen sound system, etc.

For the extra safety, Ford will also install some advanced safety systems in the F-150 Raptor. The truck will use adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane keep control, surround vision view, tire pressure monitoring system, blind spot detection, etc.

The 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor will have the launch date in later phase of 2019.  There shouldn’t be radical price corrections but Ford will reveal the price range closer to the release date. The model should again start at around $54, 000.
