2020 Ford F-350: Changes, Price

When the best-selling light-duty pickup trucks don’t meet demands of the individual or fleet buyers, the heavy-duty versions are available with the higher towing and hauling capability. Ford presented recently the updated Super Duty Series including the one-ton 2020 Ford F-350 and there are upgrades on all fronts.

The new Ford Super Duty has updated front-end styling while the interior comes with new materials, colors and trim accents. Ford also offers more technology features with the mid-cycle updated models including driver-assist systems. The big news is also the introduction of the high-output 7.3-liter V-8 gas engine while other engines get performance upgrades for better towing and hauling ratings. The new 10-speed automatic transitions will also be the part of the equipment list as Ford promised recently.

The list of upgrades for the 2019 refresh doesn’t stop there as Blue Oval brings a new, off-road Tremor package which will be available in XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum trims.

2020 Ford F-350: Design

The 2020 Ford F-350 and the rest of the Super Duty range haven’t changed structurally from the form they got for the 2017 redesign year but there are a handful of the styling updates and functional improvements.

The models sport a larger, restyled grille combined with the new front bumper both designed to improve airflow for better engine cooling. The dually versions get even larger grille to provide more fresh air to the engines.  The front and rear lights are also modernized and the rear gets new tailgate.

The newly available, off-road package also has an impact on the model’s appearance. The Ford Tremor has massive 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires wrapped around the 18-inch matte-black wheels. The model also has a 2-inch suspension lift and shorter air dam.

Depending on the trim version, the appearance of the models will change mixing black grille and bumpers, body-color elements or more chrome applied in the upper grades.

Interior, Equipment:

The F-3550 and the rest of the Super Duty range benefit from the new material and textures inside the cabin. The truck comes with more standard features and upgraded tech systems including the safety aspect.

There will be a new Onyx Argento Wood trim in the Platinum version and Black Coarse Ash Wood in the Limited trim. The set of the new standard and optional tech equipment will also be available. Every F-350 will include 4G LTE modem with Wi-Fi connection for up to 10 devices. The truck will also use the brand’s newest SYNC infotainment system and Ford also introduced Pro Trailer Backup Assist system.

The one-ton Ford Super Duty will also be well aware and ready to prevent collisions thanks to the modern safety equipment. Starting from the XLT trim standard equipment will be lane departure warning for the truck and trailer, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, and automatic high beam system.

2020 Ford F-350: Powertrains

Ford made also major changes in the powertrain range by improving the performance and capability of the familiar engines and adding a new, high-output V-8 gas engine. The new ten-speed automatic transmission is also available.

The new engine in the range is a 7.3-liter naturally aspirated V-8 gas unit combined with the 10-speed automatic gearbox. The engine is minted from the modern materials to provide extended durability and it also uses variable valve timing and port injection. Ford hasn’t yet revealed the real capability of this engine but promised to be the most powerful gas engine in the class.

The 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 turbodiesel is also revised coming with the improved components including injectors and new variable geometry turbocharger. The engine will also use a new automatic transmission.

The base unit will remain 6.2-liter V-8 combined with the 10-speed automatic transmission as well.

The newly available Tremor package will also provide a new level of off-road capability. The package uses twin-tube shocks with 1.7-inch thick pistons, a limited-slip Dana front differential, locking rear differential, additional underbody protection, low-speed cruise, a rock-crawl mode, etc.
