Ram Trucks Division is a very important part of the Fiat Chrysler family. A market demand for truck models is constantly increasing and Ram pickups are one of the most popular. Only in the first ten months of this year, 374,900 models were sold. This is 3.8 percent more than the previous year. The new 2019 Ram 1500 is in its last testing phase and it will be ready for 2018 Detroit Auto Show. FCA US LLC has decided not to stop there. The new Ram HD was caught while testing in Michigan covered with some heavy camouflage.
The smaller 1500 model can now be spotted on the streets without a camouflage and it is obvious that is ready for the production phase. The spy shots of a bigger, Heavy Duty model are leaked, and now circulating on the internet. It is clear that the design of the new 2019 Ram 1500 will be also transferred to the HD Series. This implies the new headlights, redesigned grille and robust, chrome front bumper. Of course, it is not realistic to expect the official presentation of the bigger truck next year since it’s in the first testing phase. However, it will be fully tested and prepared in the next period and arrive as the 2020 Ram 2500/3500 HD model.
2020 Ram 2500/3500 HD – Engine Specs
It is premature to discuss the design and interior features of the new 2020 Ram 2500/3500 but it is clear what engine options will offer. The only petrol engine under the bonnet will be 6.4-liter HEMI V8. This mill can deliver 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. Ram has decided to drop out from its well-known 5.7-liter V-8 with 383 hp and 400 lb-ft. It is obvious that the new generation of Ram’s HD trucks will be all about the power.
The diesel option will be the 6.7-liter turbocharged inline-6 from Cummins. So far, this mill has produced 385 horses and 930 pound-feet of pulling power. It seems that this was not enough since some rumors are saying that it will be tuned up even more. The goal is to reach unbelievable figure of 1,000 lb-ft of torque. If they manage to do this all competitor in HD division will be devastated.
Both engines will be probably matched to the Aisin Auto transmission. The hauling power with the diesel mil will easily go over 30,000 pounds.
The prototype model of the new 2020 Ram 2500/3500 HD has been seen for the first time on the streets a few days ago. This suggests that it is not realistic to expect its serial production soon. However, it will not be surprise if we see its debut in some Auto Show at the end of 2018 or in Detroit 2019.
